Jimmy Dean Dews | Title: Pastor The Reverend Jimmy Dean Dews, a servant of the Lord, is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Talmadge Jones of South Hill, Virginia. He was born July 27, 1957 and reared in Mecklenburg, Virginia. He is married to the former Charlene Phillips and they are the proud and thankful parents of one daughter, Shalonda Yvette Dews Martin, a son-in-law, Terry A. Martin and a granddaughter, Kyla Janae Martin.
Reverend Dews received his education in the Mecklenburg County Public School System and was a 1975 graduated of Park View Senior High School. In 1977, he graduated from Southside Virginia Community College with an Associate Applied Science Degree. He received his early Christian training at the Whittle Grove Baptist Church, under the pastorate of the late Reverend Massenburg and the Reverend Douglas Chandler. He served on the usher and Deacon Board, Junior Choir, and as superintendent of Sunday School.
In December 1984, Reverend Dews was called and sent to preach the gospel of Jesus Christ. He continued his Christian education at the Richmond Virginia Seminary, under the presidency of Dr. Benjamin Robertson. On May 17, 1993, Reverend Dews graduated from the Seminary with a Bachelor of Arts in Religious Studies Degree, a Bachelor of Theology Degree, and on October 26, 1998, received an Honorary Doctorate.
Reverend Dews is a member of the Hickory Run Baptist Church in Rawlings, Virginia where the Reverend Pernell A. Simms is pastor. He is an Associate Minister of the Whittle Grove Baptist Church in South Hill, Virginia. He is the former pastor of Unity and Starlight Baptist Church, both in Kenbridge, Virginia and the St. Matthew Baptist Church in Clarksville, Virginia and the Gethsemane Baptist Church in South Hill, Virginia.
